This will be an interesting study. Reason being that this app is insanely salesy, to the extent that it feels like too pushy or shady. But, we are still going to take a look at it objectively because it apparently has at least more than a million users and that should pull our attention. Although I couldn't find any data on their paid users or revenue.

It is clear the algorithm is trying to understand the preferences of the user with their interests and desires. But I do have a critique, 12-29 is a pretty random age range for user cohorts. Literally everything changes from 12-29. But they do them, I guess.

That's a niche way to let users visualise a success state. Brilliant use of feedback in gamification. Users can play around around see their reading outcomes over a year. 456 books a year by reading 20 mins daily? Mindblown.

Straight up to showing achievements and testimonial. Never really seen this on any app, screaming how good they are, but again they do them. If it works, great.

Understanding preferences from actual content and understanding the psychographics does seem like a good design choice. And, committing to a daily routine also lets Wiser reminds users.

On cancelling the free trial, the app immediately throws a huge discount and even breaks it into price per week so make it appear a small amount. It also creates extreme scarcity by putting a 2 mins timer before the discount disappears (but it actually doesn't, they email you again ;)).
Still if you hold your horses and don't subscribe, trying a free trial is the only thing they push you toward on the Home screen.

07 / so what did we learn?
We did see how interestingly Wiser has introduced an actual sales framework in the onboarding flow.
Additionally, we learn about simple feedback mechanisms where we can let users visualise a success state. (400+ books a year just by reading 20 mins a day)
04 / conclusion.
What catches my eye here is the engaging personalisation used by Spotify in its onboarding. We will deconstruct the importance of feedback mechanisms.
