Health stacks are personalised combinations of habits, protocols, supplements, and lifestyle choices designed to help someone reach a specific health goal—like better sleep, improved focus, muscle gain, or longevity.

Stack Results aims to solve this by a platform that lets people discover stacks of people with gold standard health conditions so they can replicate and achieve similar results. The product is powered by social influence.

As a founding designer, I had to set the design vision of the product and define the customers, how it would exist in the market, and frame the problem.

I invested hours on researching health accounts in social media, trying to understand the nature of content. I also personally went to top notch gyms and wellness centers at Bali to talk to the people there, to form a product opinion.

At the end of my ground research, I observed that people absolutely loved sharing their progress at gym with their followers and friends. How might we utilise this behaviour?

Fitness and wellness influencers had their own products or affiliate products on their socials. Next, big influencers like Bryan Johnson getting popularity by showing their body data building trust and transparency. How might we leverage this shift in trends?

After multiple iterations, and hypothesis on multiple user groups by demographics and psychographics, it was decided to target the people who are already into fitness and spending money on it. This was the most easy to reach audience for MVP, and test product-market fit.

Stack Results serves the modern health-seeker — individuals who are health-conscious but overwhelmed by fragmented information and influencer overload. Our users crave personalized, data-backed solutions and trust people like them over paid promotions.

Our audience was always looking for ways to optimize their health to the maximum, using supplements and working out regularly. The challenge came in tracking their health holistically and maintaining a certain homeostasis.

It all boiled down to how Stack Results as a platform help diagnose, recommend and measure results.

Why did we use no labeled icons?
Why did we use no labeled icons?
Labelled icons are a standard in design industry, safest user experience. But I wanted to take the more visual route in this one, BUT to not break the principle of recognition over memory, I used icons that are well known to target audience.

Based on the hypothesis, we listed few metrics that were to be tested on the Pilot version. And all design decisions were made to enhance these metrics.

Completion rate of onboarding process - to determine how the onboarding was performing
% of users creating a stack - to determine a creator to consumer ratio on the app
% of users tracking at least one biomarker - to determine the product-market fit for the feature

Creating the database for the biomarkers came at the most expensive constraint in the entire product.
Using an API to fetch the details on biomarkers was expensive and not as detailed as we wanted

I broke the problem down into doable chunks. To spend product and development time in creating a system to have hundreds of biomarkers was tedious and unnecessary till the hypothesis was not proven. The attention was given to only the most used few markers based on competitor research and keyword trends. Now, it was possible to manually research and create the data, and in the way test the hypothesis and later create automated systems.

We did a lot of iterations with the layouts and design storytelling - how and when is information revealed to users, giving contextual design the most importance.

07/ ONBOARDING
07/ ONBOARDING
Onboarding had to be intentional and every question asked to the user had to be linked to a feedback mechanism. Data such as location, gender, age and health interests help personalize the first user experience. This was to maximise showing the best thing to the user the first time so they come back the second time.

Two out of many iterations stood out and I had to consider which one to go with. While one facilitated a more frequent change in data, the other supported a less frequent and discrete dataset.

A big consideration here was understanding what users do. So we went to one of the best wellness centres in Bali, The Omni and we researched. People tested their health biomarkers every quarter to measure and track their body improvements. So I had a clear winner in this dilemma, the discrete dataset visualization.

The app had a lot of things going on, and as a designer, I wanted to lead the users based on their intent. How might we enable the user to discover something based on user intent?

I took inspiration from airport and big architectural designs. Huge spaces, multiple directions to go and yet somehow the travellers end up reaching their destination. And while tried understanding the patterns, one thing always stood out about those designs, the users’ LOCATION. The user location is always taken into account in wayfindings and signboards to guide them. Can we do a similar thing on our app?

So I started questioning:
Why & when would one need to use search?
The possible assumptions were:
when they come to the app with a purpose but can’t cannot complete the action
knows something exists but cannot find
when they don’t know where to begin

The Store was the feature that would be the main financial model of the platform. The products on the store would either be affiliate or partner brands. The suggestions would be made based on user's data and their Stacks or the supplements they already use.

Building a product from scratch taught me lot on decision making. Taking just an idea to exactly what needed to be built, researching about the industry in-depth, understanding which exact audience to target, helping founders ideate on the product, and managing a design team of three - helped me learn a lot in multiple domains.

While the product development had to be paused midway due to lack of external funding, but setting the vision of the brand, working closely with the team to build something potentially impactful was worth it all.
